Twin Quilts! Oh My!
On July 8, 2016, Twins Adaline (in yellow) and Mia (in pink) were welcomed into this world! Their mother is a colleague of my husband, who has been very kind to him, and he wanted to do something special for her. So we decided that I should make a baby quilt! For BOTH of them!
How quickly we forget how much is involved and how long it takes! I decided to just make a scrap quilt; so, I charged forward! Back to basics. Eat, SEW, Sleep, Repeat! It took three (3)weeks.
As I get older, the hardest part of the quilt making process, is batting the quilt and pinning it! In fact, it is now almost impossible. I can’t seem to get up and down from the floor as easily anymore, or reach across a quilt, and the floor is the only place to batting a quilt! So, guess who did the honors this time: my husband!
Once he finishes the hard part, I can start quilting the quilt!
The quilts are backed with flannel so they will be nice and cuddly! Here’s the finished quilts, 40.5” x 40.5” along with few scattered close ups!
UPDATE: Their mother couldn’t decide whether to use the quilts or hang them over their cribs - so I had some left-over scraps and decided to make a couple of small 20” square wall hangings for over the cribs!
LOOK!
UPDATE: This was a treat! Seeing the babies using the quilts! It is so rewarding!
I didn’t realize how light the fabrics were when I was making the quilts - so fit for summertime more than any other time. Oh well, they were born in the summer!
UPDATE: And now we get to see how much they have grown! MIA looks just like her Dad and ADALINE looks just like her Mom. Both are beautiful people! I have to say it again…Aren’t they adorable?
