Italian Marble

Fixed Quilt Pic_1

This is my NEWEST quilt!  Italian Marble!  It is 47" x 47” and, actually a scrap quilt, if you can believe that!  I had a bunch of these Italian colored fabrics, including some very exclusive hand dyed art fabric, which I just decided to cut up and use after we fell in love with the pattern.  I wanted to try this new pattern I bought called, "Criss Cross Applesauce,” by Amy Gay.  It was suppose to be just an experiment using up scraps; but, as it progressed, both Mark and I fell in love with it, so we added the elite expensive fabrics, and a lot more of the white marble fabric, and now, Mark wants to hang it in his hair studio.  It’s been a long time since we have done that!

Below are some photos of the various fabrics I used in this quilt and parts of the process which took from October 1, 2016 through December 28, 2016.  I have also included photos of the quilt at its new home in Mark’s Hair Studio at Sola Salons.

Started to layout blocks to determine how I wanted it to look…this was MUCH HARDER than you think….

NO …this is NOT right either!  Change the  bottom and the right side….at least!  Oh My!

Getting there!  This is almost it!

Then, you have to sew it all together and finish the quilt by finding and sewing on a suitable binding (not as easy as it sounds) and, making, and sewing on, a sleeve to hang it!
